Barchester Healthcare is recruiting a Deputy Payroll Manager to join its payroll team based in Inverness.
This role suits an experienced payroll professional who wants responsibility, scale, and the chance to work in a senior operational role within a large national organisation.

The role

You will support the Payroll Manager and help oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 17,000 employees.
You will provide day to day guidance and supervision to the payroll team and deputise for the Payroll Manager when required.
You will ensure payroll processes comply with company policies and relevant government regulations.
You will manage RTI returns, PAYE reconciliation, and P11D expenses and benefits.
You will support payroll software upgrades and system improvements.
You will produce daily, monthly, and ad hoc payroll reports and support year end payroll processes.

Working pattern

This is a full time role based on 40 hours per week.
The role is office based at Barchester’s Inverness office.

What we are looking for

You will hold a professional payroll qualification such as a CIPP Diploma or equivalent.
You will have extensive experience processing large volume payrolls.
You will have previous supervisory or leadership experience within a payroll function.
You will have strong report writing and analytical skills.
You will be confident using payroll and accounting systems, with strong Excel skills.
You will be organised, reliable, and able to manage deadlines in a busy environment.
