Summer Isles Enterprises Ltd

Permanent, full time
£40,000 to £50,000 per year depending on experience

Summer Isles Enterprises Ltd is recruiting a Land and Estates Team Leader to coordinate land and estate operations across its island and mainland properties in the Northwest Highlands.

This is a senior, hands on leadership role within a large scale restoration, regeneration, and hospitality project centred on the Summer Isles and the Tanera Project.

About the role

You will lead and coordinate the Land and Estates team across approximately 6,500 acres of island and mainland land, including in bye land, woodland, hill ground, and coastal environments.

You will manage a core team of five staff, supported by seasonal workers, volunteers, and colleagues from other teams.

You will oversee a wide remit including estate work, grounds keeping, regenerative agriculture, livestock, stalking, fishing, horses, guest activities, and support for gardens, ecology, and path teams when required.

You will balance practical delivery on the ground with planning, coordination, and organisation across competing priorities.

You will help design and deliver shared activities with guests and volunteers, embedding land management into the wider community and visitor experience.

You will work extensively outdoors in a challenging West Coast environment and be prepared to turn your hand to a wide variety of tasks.

The project context

The Tanera Project is a large scale restoration and regeneration initiative with strong philanthropic and community commitments.

In 2026 the project will become a Scottish charity, with core purposes including rural regeneration, resilience building through respite provision, and ecosystem restoration.

Land management is central to these aims, balancing production, heritage, and nature while building resilient communities.

What we are looking for

You should be an experienced leader with demonstrable experience coordinating teams with a broad and varied remit.

You should have proficiency in at least two of the following areas: estate work, grounds keeping, agriculture, livestock, horses, or working with guests and volunteers in an outdoor setting.

An interest in landscape scale regeneration that respects heritage, productivity, and ecosystems is essential.

You should be organised, resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable working in a remote island environment.

A good eye for detail, strong practical skills, and a sense of humour will help you thrive in this role.

What is on offer

Salary between £40,000 and £50,000 per year depending on experience.

A permanent, full time leadership role within a unique Northwest Highland project.

Opportunities to work across a wide range of land based, community, and hospitality activities.

Flexible shift patterns and accommodation options may be discussed with the successful candidate.

A rare opportunity to play a key role in a nationally significant restoration and regeneration project.
