A permanent, full time opportunity has arisen for an IT Support Officer to join the IT Help Desk team of a major UK care provider operating more than 240 care homes and six hospitals across the country.
This role is based in Inverness and plays a key part in supporting staff across multiple sites, providing first and second line technical support and ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and professionally.
The role
Working as part of the IT Help Desk team, you will provide first and second line support to employees across the organisation, primarily over the phone.
You will log, monitor, and manage support cases, ensuring issues are followed through to resolution in a timely and accurate manner.
You will identify situations that require escalation and manage the handover to third party specialists where appropriate.
You will communicate clearly and confidently with users of varying technical ability, providing advice that is easy to understand and reassuring.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to IT projects, including PC, server, and network updates and implementations across the business.
Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required as part of the role.
What we are looking for
You will have previous experience working in a telephone based IT support or help desk environment.
You will be confident using remote control technologies to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable supporting non technical users.
You will be self motivated, able to work proactively and independently without close supervision.
You will have a confident, friendly telephone manner and work well as part of a team.
Technical and educational requirements
You will be educated to SQA Higher level or equivalent, such as A Levels or a Level 3 Diploma.
You will have strong working knowledge of PCs and Microsoft products, including Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.
Desirable experience
A degree in a numerate subject such as Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
An understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts.
Knowledge of smartphone email configuration across iOS and Android devices.
Contract and pay
Permanent role.
Full time, 40 hours per week, days.
Salary £31,000 per annum.
