Gordon & MacPhail is recruiting an Operations Manager to join its site operations team in Elgin, offering a senior leadership role within a well-established, family-owned business at the heart of the Scotch whisky industry.
This is a key operational role overseeing daily activity across bottling and warehousing, supporting long-term business plans and ensuring high standards of performance, compliance, and people leadership.
The role
As Operations Manager, you will oversee site operations across bottling and warehousing, ensuring processes run efficiently, safely, and in line with regulatory requirements. You will provide strong leadership to operational teams, setting clear expectations, motivating performance, and maintaining a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
You will work with manufacturing and supply chain systems, support planning and performance targets, and ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, and HMRC regulations relevant to the Scotch whisky industry. Clear communication, problem solving, and the ability to organise and prioritise effectively will be central to the role.
What we are looking for
You will be educated to degree level or have comparable experience in supply chain or manufacturing, ideally within the drinks industry. Experience within the Scotch whisky sector or a wider FMCG production environment is highly desirable.
Relevant qualifications such as an Institute of Brewers and Distillers Diploma or Certificate in Packaging, Food Safety Level 3 or above, HACCP, and IOSH Managing Safely are advantageous.
You will be a confident and competent people manager with strong leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate teams to deliver results. Familiarity with ERP systems, supply chain planning systems, and manufacturing process systems is expected, alongside strong presentation and computer skills.
Contract details
This is a permanent, full time position based in Elgin, Moray, working 40 hours per week.
Salary
£55,000 to £60,000 per year.
