NFU Mutual
NFU Mutual
Dingwall or Thurso
Self employed leadership opportunity
Closing date: 9 January 2026
NFU Mutual is seeking a Partner to join its established Dingwall and Thurso agency, offering a rare opportunity to lead and grow a fully operational farming insurance business serving rural communities across the Scottish Highlands.
This is a senior, self employed leadership role suited to someone with strong local knowledge, a deep connection to the farming and agri economy, and the ambition to run a respected, long standing business with the backing of one of the UK’s most trusted insurers.
The opportunity
As one of three Partners within this dual site agency, you will take joint responsibility for the leadership, growth, and long term success of the business.
The agency already benefits from a loyal customer base with a renewal rate of around 95 percent, providing a strong foundation from day one.
You will work closely with farming clients and rural businesses, building trusted relationships, developing bespoke insurance solutions, and identifying new opportunities across the Highlands.
While insurance experience is not essential, a genuine understanding of the rural economy and the people within it is critical.
This opportunity requires no upfront capital investment.
Earnings are performance based, with uncapped potential and projected income of around £60,000 in the first year alone.
NFU Scotland Group Secretary role
Alongside the Partner role, you will also act as the local Group Secretary for NFU Scotland.
With full support from NFUS and the existing Partners, you will help bring the farming community together, share policy updates, support membership growth, and act as a collective voice for local agriculture.
This role strengthens your position at the heart of the rural community and supports long term relationship building for the agency.
What we are looking for
This opportunity is suited to an aspiring or experienced leader with a strong customer focused background.
You may come from sales, account management, people management, or another customer facing leadership role.
Key requirements include the ability to build and maintain long term relationships, manage people and performance, and operate with integrity, professionalism, and commercial awareness.
A passion for rural life, farming, and the Caithness and Ross-shire communities is essential.
Support and rewards
As a Partner and Agent of NFU Mutual, you will run your own business with the backing of a national insurer.
You will have access to extensive support including sales, marketing, financial planning, training, and operational guidance.
This is a rare opportunity to combine the independence of self employment with the security and reputation of an established brand and business.
