CalMac Ferries is recruiting a Port Assistant to support operations at Fionnphort and the Iona Slipway for the 2026 season.
This role suits someone customer focused and resilient who is comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in a busy port environment.
The role
You will provide ticket sales, printing and distribution to passengers.
You will assist customers with travel information and booking enquiries.
You will process cash and card payments accurately.
You will marshal vehicles and direct traffic during embarkation and disembarkation.
You will monitor the pier area to ensure safety and security.
You will carry out routine maintenance and cleaning tasks within the terminal.
You will support the Port Manager with additional operational duties as required.
Working pattern
Seasonal contract until October 2026.
16 hours per week.
Consistent Friday and Saturday working pattern.
Shifts may include early starts, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Unsociable hours paid at 12.5 percent enhancement for qualifying shifts.
Overtime paid at enhanced rates in line with company policy.
What we are looking for
Strong customer service skills with clear communication.
Ability to remain calm and professional during busy periods or service disruption.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Confident using basic IT systems and learning new tools.
Full UK driving licence.
Reliable access to the terminal.
Flexible approach to shift based working.
