NHS Western Isles is recruiting Public Dental Officers to join its Public Dental Service team based at Uist and Barra Hospital.
This role suits qualified dentists looking for a permanent post delivering essential dental care in a remote island setting with strong professional support.

The role

You will provide dental care to priority patient groups, including children and adults requiring additional support.
You will work within well equipped dental surgeries, including the Uist and Barra Hospital Dental Hub.
You will deliver care in both clinical and community settings, including care homes and domiciliary environments where required.
You will work as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team, maintaining high clinical and professional standards.
You may work across additional locations depending on skills and service needs, with travel and accommodation expenses covered where applicable.

Working pattern

This is a permanent post working 37.5 hours per week.
Variable hours may be available by agreement.
The role is primarily based at Uist and Barra Hospital.

What we are looking for

You must be a qualified dentist eligible to work within NHS Scotland.
You should have the clinical skills required to treat patients with additional and complex needs.
You should be comfortable working in both static and community based clinical settings.
You must be willing to join the PVG Scheme.

What is on offer

Salary between £54,117 and £81,174 per annum under the Public Dental Service pay scale.
Distant Islands Allowance of £1,406 per annum.
Remote Areas Allowance of £4,500 per annum for years one to three, rising to £9,000 per annum thereafter, pro rata.
Recruitment and retention allowance of £25,000 paid over two years, subject to eligibility.
Generous relocation package of up to £8,000.
Up to 33 days annual leave plus eight public holidays.
