RAC
The RAC is recruiting a Roadside Technician to cover the Inverness area, offering a well-paid, field-based role with one of the UK’s most trusted motoring organisations.
This is a varied and hands-on role for a qualified vehicle technician who enjoys problem solving, working independently, and helping people when they need it most.
The role
As a Roadside Technician, you will provide mechanical roadside repairs, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support to RAC members across the Inverness area. From flat batteries and tyre changes to complex fault finding, you will deliver confident, practical solutions at the roadside.
You will start and finish your working day from home, using a fully equipped RAC van and diagnostic kit provided. The role operates on demand-led shifts averaging around 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.
This position combines technical expertise with customer service, requiring calm decision making and clear communication in a wide range of situations.
What we are looking for
You must hold a Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification or equivalent, with proven technical, electrical, and diagnostic experience. A full UK driving licence is essential, along with a customer-focused approach and the ability to work independently.
You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and confident representing the RAC at all times.
Pay and benefits
The role offers a strong base salary of £35,000, with a realistic OTE of £60,000 through overtime and performance-related earnings. Top performers can earn more.
Benefits include free RAC Ultimate breakdown cover from day one, a colleague share scheme, pension contributions matched up to 6.5 percent, life cover, generous holidays, a vehicle salary sacrifice scheme including electric options, and access to wellbeing support and staff discounts.
All equipment is provided, including an RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
